Elder Torres and Moe |
Elder Torres, from Chile, is my new companion and I’m super excited. Elder Andrus and I got along great and worked very well together and I think Elder Torres and I will continue to do the same. He is kind and teaches very well.
Yesterday A. was baptized! It was quite an eventful day. Early that morning we went by his house to make sure everything was good with him. We got to the church and there was already old, cold, semi dirty water in it. So, we turned the pump on so it could drain a little and we started adding in hot water. I decided to try to mix the water with my arm so it would all be evenly warm. I did this by extending myself over the font with my hand on the back wall and my feet on the front ledge. After about 60 seconds of mixing, my hand slipped and SPLOOSH I went into the font...
We then went running through the streets in my soaking wet clothes back to the pension (apartment) about eight blocks away. I changed and then called a remis (taxi) only to return to the church and find A. sitting in front all alone. We had gone running out of the church so fast that we had forgotten to turn off the pump, so when we got there fifteen minutes before the baptism, the font only had a foot of water in it..
By the time they were in the font, there was only three feet of water and A. has a broken knee.. Brother Poma basically had to shove his body under the water, then bear hug him to pull him back up. And, on top of all this, there were zero members there. N. did show up late with her son B. though! Thankfully they weren’t there for the actual baptism.. it was so stressful.
Out of time. Love you fam!
