"The Book of Mormon Really Has So Much Power"

Elder Armknecht, Sister Schaffer, Elders Moe & Andrus all from the same CCM class.

Jan 27, 2020

We found a new family this week that are awesome. They are very receptive to the spirit. It is easy to tell when someone is really humble and wants to learn because it is so much easier to feel the spirit with them. They came to church this week!

There is an older fella named A. that we have been visiting for a while now who is preparing to get baptized this week! He is super funny just the way he his. He is 70 years old but he is awesome. Please pray for A.

The real heartbreaker this week happened with J. He didn't get baptized this week. He was progressing so well for the past three weeks. But the last week before his baptism he didn't read or pray. He said he was a little nervous but he wanted to get baptized! That last week he stopped reading and his sensitivity to the spirit took a jump of a cliff. He stopped looking as happy and being funny and you could tell he was letting a lot of doubts enter his mind. On Saturday morning he totally bailed. We had told him the day before that if he read from the Book of Mormon, he would have the strength to resist the temptations and overcome his doubts. He didn't read. The Book of Mormon really has so much power.

We took a lot of pictures this week, hope y'all enjoy. We find out transfers tonight, so we'll see who will be my next comp. It has been really fun with Elder Andurs.
Love you fam!

"30 New People to Teach!!"

Jan 20, 2020
Hello family!!! This week was awesome!! On Tuesday night, we still hadn't found any new people to teach and Elder Andrus shouted, “we need to find 10 new people tomorrow!” I laughed because ten in one day is a ton! But we ended up setting the goal of ten and we said a prayer and set that goal with the Lord. Then Wednesday we went out and WORKED! We saw so many miracles, the Lord was helping us all along the way, and at the end of the day we ended with 10 new people to teach. “Pray as if everything depended on Heavenly Father (and it does), but work as if everything depended on you and no one else.” Even if our goals seem crazy, if we depend on Heavenly help and do everything we can, Help will come!

At the end of the week, we ended up finding 30 new people to teach. Not all will progress, but there are a few chosen ones in there that will get baptized in a few weeks.

J. came to church!!! Pray that he can feel more sure about his decision to get baptized!!

Love you guys!!!

"Taking the Sacrament is Like Sunbathing"

Jan 13, 2020
Hello Family! We had a good week here in the villa 20! We had an amazing lesson with N. and her friend S. this past week! We talked about the gospel of Jesus Christ. As I have studied these five steps: 1) Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; 2) Repentance through the Atonemont of Christ; 3) Baptism by immersion in Christ’s name; 4) The gift of the Holy Ghost; and 5) Enduring to the end, I have learned so much and my testimony of the Atonement has increased so much. What a blessing it is to be able to repent!! Then we can complete that repentance by taking the sacrament each week; ahh it's the best! I always knew the sacrament was important, but as I have learned more about ordinances and their role in our repentance process, it has just become so so special to me. Taking the sacrament is like laying out and sunbathing on a white sand beach drinking a pink lemonade; I get the same feeling (but taking the sacrament is a little bit better). As my testimony of repentance has increased we have been able to invite the spirit more easily when we testify.

J. is a stud, I'll try and get a picture with him this week to send home. His bike broke so he walked to church this week in the blazing sun. He has come three weeks in a row now!

We played basketball this week in Floresta again. It was really fun; I still really enjoy playing. Soccer is super fun but it's just not the same haha.

Love you fam, you guys are the best.

"Happy New Years!!"

Jan 6, 2020

Hello family. Happy new years!!!

New Years was super fun; we got together with the elders that live above us and made "Mexican" tacos, but they were actually really good. We then watched the fireworks at midnight. It was sweet! It is so weird that it's already 2020.

We have a buddy that is 15 and is a stud. His mom was baptized in the church of Jesus Christ when she was little, but went inactive when she was a young teenager. He had never heard of the church before! Two weeks ago we went to church with him for the first time. It didn't seem like he was enjoying it at all and it didn't seem like he was paying attention, but when we visited him the next day he said that he liked it! We asked him what he liked about it and he actually talked about a talk that one of the sisters in the ward gave and how he thought it was interesting. And he came this week by himself on his bike! He has a baptismal date for the 25 of this month!

We are kinda in the oven right now, C. heard from one of her cousins that we wanted to obligate her to get baptized (we had asked one of her cousins to “get her excited” about her baptism, and his little sister heard and told C. that we wanted to force her to do it, kids...) So she is a little bit uneasy about her baptism right now but we are gonna talk to her. Pray for her!!

Love y’all

"El Nino Jesus"

Dec 30, 2019
Hello fam, We had a good week! Christmas was like no other Christmas I’ve ever lived. It was super great honestly because we gotta teach various kids and families that had no idea why we celebrated Christmas.

We downloaded the video the church made, “El Nino Jesus” and watched it with everyone that would let us. I felt the spirit testify of my words as we taught people the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and shared scriptures like 2 Nephi 16:9 or Alma 7. He really is the only way to find true happiness in this life! Without him, we would never be able to get over our mistakes, we would never be able to move on, and there would be no life after we die, everything would just end. Because he lives, we can have lasting happiness no matter what our circumstances of life may be. We can overcome our weaknesses and we can live after we die!!! Isn't He pretty important??  We didn’t see any crazy miracles that day, but the feeling that we had in our hearts was miracle enough.

L. got baptized! She is super cute, she kinda has a thug face on in some of the pictures but I promise she was happy jaja.
Ava's Christ picture!
