"I Read a Little Bit"

July 22, 2019
This week we saw a sign that said "vndo arboles de palta" which translates to " I sell avacado trees"

Elder Jackson walked by and said in a confused voice "Voodu Arboles de plata??" which translates to " Voodu money trees" hahaha

We had a good week! We are teaching a woman named Mora (name changed)!! She is awesome! She lives alone in a little home. We were slightly late to our last cita (appointment) with her and she was sitting outside here house waiting for us!!! We asked if she was able to read part of the Book of Mormon and she responded and said, "I read a little bit but I really didn’t have much time so I couldn’t read a lot, sorry chicos."

We responded and said, "Well if you were able to read something that’s good!! And, how much were you able to read?" SHE HAD READ FROM THE INTRODUCION UNTIL CHAPTER 14! Family! Please pray that Mora will be able to feel the spirit while she reads the Book of Mormon!

Thanks for the pictures!! I love looking at them, that High adventure looked fun!

Love you fam!

"Act Now and Be Happy!"

Elders Moe & Jackson

July 8, 2019

Hola familia!!!
We got to meet Presidente Zúñiga on Tuesday!! He seems awesome and I already love him. He spoke to us about finding joy in the missionary work and I think it is really something I needed to hear. He seems awesome and I am really excited to get to know him better.

This week we visited a family that includes two recent converts and a couple less actives, one of the hermanas got emotional when talking about the Plan of Salvation and frustratedly asked, "why do we have to wait till after this life to have peace? Why can’t we have joy in this life? This life is so hard and what if the next life isn’t what we think it is? Why cant I just be happy in my life now?"

This poor hermana has been through a lot, her husband passed away about 4 months ago, about two months ago she got baptized but has had a hard time finding joy in her life. For the past month or so she hasn’t come to church and hasn’t been reading or praying.

Life is really hard some times, but we don’t have to wait to have peace and happiness and joy. We can have it while we are here!! Our Father and Heaven and Brother Jesus Christ love us! Do you think they want us to be happy? YES! THEY DO! If we change our lives and priorities and put our Savior first before any other thing in life, being at church for the sacrament, talking to our Father in Heaven through prayer, reading our scriptures and looking for ways to make others happy is the key to having Joy!!! Don’t wait! Act now and be happy! Our Heavenly Father loves us!

I scooped Elder Jackson this week and in attempt to block my hand, he swung at me but missed and ended up punching himself in the face and then knocking his head into the glass window behind him, it was hilarious.

I watched all the videos! Hunter and Adam jumping through the fireworks was hilarious, and Bethany… Bro. Kirk- “we are not having any fun here.” Bethany- “yes we are” …Hilarious

Love you all!

"Kinda Sad Saying Goodbye to Them"

Mon July 1, 2019

Hello family! It’s getting cold! I have been using my big jacket pretty consistently. This week has been good! President and Hermana Smith left on Thursday. On Tuesday our zone had interviews and then a lunch and testimony meeting to say goodbye. It was actually kinda sad saying goodbye to them. They have been great to have as a mission president.

I remember one time I had an interview with President and he asked me if I thought I was converted to the Lord. I started to explain how I have had amazing spiritual experiences and moments where my testimony has grown so much. After I had finished talking he looked at me in the eyes and said, “that is a beautiful testimony Elder Moe, but I asked you if you are converted.”

Haha, that made me think. President and Hermana Smith really helped me learn how to set goals and stick to them. But back to the conversion thing, sit and think about that. Are you fully converted to the Lord Jesus Christ? What does converted even mean? And what is the difference between conversion and a testimony? Just things to think about.  Elder Bednar 2012 - "Converted Unto the Lord"

So Presidente Zuniga is here! I haven’t met him yet but I’m excited!

We basically dropped a lot of investigators last week so we don’t really have a lot to teach right now. Saturday we started contacting like crazy. We were talking with everyone! And for some reason it seemed like nobody wanted to hear anything. There was one guy that even borderline started yelling at us next to a park. Days like that really strengthen my testimony because no matter what they say… I know I’M RIGHT!! HAHAHA! I love being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ!! It’s the best!

Yesterday we were able to find some good people that we are going to try to work with this week!

Love you fam!
