"BOOM!!! We Need To All Become Like Little L!!"

Monday, Dec 23, 2019
Hola Familia! We had a good week! Kinda crazy but good. On Wednesday we had our Christmas zone conference in the mission home. It was super fun! I got to see Elder Jackson and Galvez again! Me and Elder Andrus had to give a 30 minutes class on how to teach more simply and with the spirit, and they didn’t tell us we had to do it until 10 PM the night before, so it didn’t turn out super awesome like we would have wanted, but it was fun. We all went to that super nice restaurant called Kansas again during the conference.

This is from my journal this week:  L. is gonna get baptized today!  Her mom wasn’t too excited about her getting baptized though.  She was kinda being a bum, but L. is valiant! Her mom told her, “Your friend is having a birthday party this Saturday. Why don’t you just go to the party and you can get baptized next month?” And nine year old, quiet L. responded to her mom, “Vos solo queries due no me bautice, pero yo me quiero bautizar.” (You only want me not to be baptized, but I want to be baptized.)

BOOM!!! We need to all become like little L.!  Mosiah 3:18, 19, 21 meek, humble, but valiant in keeping the commandments of God!!

So on Friday, the day of the baptism, our bishop told us that the other ward had a ward baptism at 6. “Let’s just do the baptism at 8 then,” we said, but no, they were gonna have a fiesta after their baptism; A flipping party for two hours after a baptism… They basically just kicked us out. Our blood was boiling, but it's fine, whatever. So, L. is gonna get baptized this Saturday. Also, please pray that C’s parents will give her permission to get baptized this Saturday as well!
Love you guys!! Merry Christmas!!

"She Had A Dream"

Dec 9, 2019
Family! We had a great week this week! We got to snap some pics of the villa so you guys can get a small peek inside. It is starting to get mighty hot out here. Today we played ball again, and this week we invited president Zuniga to come and he said he was! But he had to cancel last second.

I also sent a pic of Elder Andrus and I with two other kids. They are both studs! They are buddies that are both going to get baptized this week!!! We have been teaching one of them and his mom for the last three weeks. She stopped going to her church like two months ago because she is pregnant and it is a long trip, but when we came to teach her son, she listened to us! She told us that she had never, never listened to anyone from another church, but for some reason she listened to us. She has been praying for an answer to see if this church really is the church of Jesus Christ. After her first time going to church two weeks ago, she said she had a dream that night that Elder Andrus and I baptized her!!! I asked her, “Do you think that could be your answer?” She said, “Yea, I think it is.”

Sad thing though is that she lives with a guy that she is not married to and he is hardly ever there and doesn’t really want to get married. Let’s keep praying for her and the boys!!

There is a family that lives here who has an ice cream shop in the villa and we always get ice cream from them. On Sunday night they were making a fresh batch of banana ice cream and they served it to us straight out of the machine. It was goooood!!

"Starting December With A Bang!"

Dec. 2, 2019
Thanks for the email family!! Since the last the last time I officially wrote, I've been transferred to a new area.  I'm now in the Liniers Zone and Elder Andrus from my CCM group
is my companion!

Thanksgiving was fun; that afternoon we went to the mission offices and stayed the night there with a bunch of other elders because we had a leadership counsel early Friday morning. Elder Vickery was making pumpkin pie but I didn’t get to try any because he didn’t finish it until late and we had to go to another pension.

Well we are starting December with a bang! It’s so nuts that it’s already December.
I woke up at 4:30 on Sunday morning and my stomach didn’t feel good, so I got out of bed and went to the bathroom…  Then the diarrhea started - 100% liquid.  My stomach started feeling worse and the diarrhea kept going.  I feel like the Lord never answers my prayers faster than when I am on the edge of vomiting.  I was literally having diarrhea when I started praying, “Oh please no, I don’t want to puke.” My stomach started feeling worse; I absolutely hate that feeling.  Luckily the bathtub is right next to the toilet, because right after thinking the words, “Oh Padre, que se haga tu voluntad no mas,” (Oh Father, Thy will be done) I fell off the toilet onto my knees and puked up the mountains of food I had eaten that day.  The first time puking on my mission!!

So I felt terrible, but we went to church anyway!!  We were able to help three of our friends get to church and we had a total of 9 of our friends there!  We have a zone goal of 12 for the month of December, and the goal for our area is 3! I told you we were starting off December with a bang!

We came back to the pension after sacrament meeting because I felt horrible.  I puked one more time after church, but I’m feeling pretty good now! I was absolutely miserable for about four hours that afternoon though.

This week we stopped by a few of our friends' house and they were outside playing "volleyball" with some of their neighbors (the net was a construction fence). I’ll finish the story next week.  I’m out of time.  Love you all!

"The Lord Blessed Us A Ton!!"

Nov 11, 2019
I had like two journal entries that I was gonna take pictures of to send, but I forgot :) This week was awesome!!

Elder Dubie had a bad back this week and was limping around for a couple days until the pain got worse on Sunday after church, so we went to a hospital in capital! I saw the tip of the Obelisco (the Buenos Aries version of the DC monument). Then we tried to find our way back to the pension on our own in the subway and colectivo (bus), but we ended up asking the office elders to call us a taxi because we weren’t getting very far. It was pretty wild though wandering around the subways in down town BA.

The Lord blessed us a ton!! We had two kids that moved into the ward with their uncle and they aren’t members. They are gonna get baptized the 23!  President Zuniga went with us this week to visit another friend that we've been teaching and she will be baptized the 23rd as well!!  I'm pretty excited to continue working, whether it be here in Buologne or any other area. We are just gonna keep working!

No idea what will happen with transfers.
Love you guys!!!!! Bye!!!

"He Brought Us to 11 of His Friends!"

Oct 28, 2019
Last week we were in a neighborhood of one of our friends and he came up behind us on his bike. After saying hi we asked him if he had any friends that lived nearby that we could go invite to hear about the gospel and come to church. (He is 11) He said, "No elder, no creo que vayan." (I don’t think they will go)  After a couple of "no's" from him, he said that he had one friend that lived close that we could visit.

He called for his friend, and when he came he said, " Hey, what are you going to do Sunday morning?" "Nothing," replied his friend. "I wanted to invite you to the Church of Jesus Christ Sunday morning, do you want to come??" His friend said maybe!

We left the house after the short invitation and I gave him a high five and told him, "Nice job dude! That was awesome!" He was excited and felt the spirit of sharing the gospel! Over the course of 2 days, he brought us to 11 of his friends’ houses and we were able to invite them to come and see!!

It’s scary at first, but just invite!!!! The Lord will fill your heart!

Love you fam!!

"What Lack I Yet?"

Oct 21, 2019
We had an awesome week! We did a ton of divisions with other areas and I forgot to bring my camera when I went to the other areas, sorry.

The pics I sent last week are kind of, mas o menos, what a villa looks like inside. That wasn’t a villa.

I had a cool experience this week with our Father in Heaven. I was thinking a lot about what more I need to do to achieve what the Lord expects of me, so I asked him in prayer, "What can I do better Father?" The answer came much faster than expected. I said I need to refer to my friends as friends instead of "investigators". It was pretty clear. I talked to my companion and we decided to repent together and strive to use the word "friends" instead of "investigators." Through small and simple things, great things are done. I think this effort to say "friends" and be even more obedient we will help many more people to come to the Lord!

Our Father in Heaven wants to help us be better; He knows we will be more happy if we are more righteous, and so if we ask him, just like it says in that one conference talk and the scripture, "what lack i yet?," He will tell us, if we are willing to repent and act!! The commandments are the BEST!! I loved reading my scriptures this week. I started reading the story of Joseph Smith, just as our Prophet instructed us, and I felt the spirit super strong.

One of our friends said she wanted to be a nun and she hopes that will help her get an answer, but after our last lesson, I think she is doubting the idea. We are working with another girl as well, and we are always looking for more people!

Mom, thank you for sending me packages, I am very appreciated. (that doesn’t make sense does it) Sorry for complaining last week about that. I love you a ton. I took out some money to get the hat and a thermos for mate and other stuff. Love you fam!!! Thanks for the pics and videos!

"Wasn't General Conference AMAZING!!"

Oct. 7, 2019

Hello family!!!
Wasn’t General Conference AMAZING!! Especially on Saturday, I felt like every talk was for me. We watched all the sessions in Spanish at the stake center, villa Ballester. It was awesome. There were a lot of messages about joy!! Also another theme that called my attention was having trust in the Lord. It was awesome! (Did I already say that?) I wonder what is gonna go down in April, should be amazing.

Last week we found a girl that has been trying to find friends that have good morals for a long time now and Heavenly Father has been preparing her heart to accept the restored gospel! She came to the stake center to watch the Sunday afternoon session of conference. Escogida (She is chosen)!!!

You know in the Hunger Games how there is District 12 that is like a different world than District 1? I kinda feel like that here sometimes and it’s pretty sad really. We live in an area pretty wealthy, but where we work and where our ward boundaries are is like another story. There are some people here living in extreme poverty and then 10 minutes down the highway there is one of the biggest malls in Buenos Aires where there are a ton of people dressed super nice, eating super expensive food and buying designer clothes. It’s kinda nuts. We went to the mall (it’s called unicenter) today because Elder Dubois wanted to check it out and I just felt uncomfortable there. Oh well.

We are allowed to drink mate now! I tried it for the first time today and it was really nuts!! It wasn’t that good at all at first, but after drinking for a few minutes, I started liking it a little more. It was just crazy to actually drink it, because I’ve seen people drinking it literally 24/7 for the past year, but I had never tried it.

Happy birthday mom! I love you!
