"That 40 Minute Call Falew By"

Dec 31, 2018
Oh Ya, that 40 minute call falew by super fast, Fuentes was putting on a such a show, I couldn't believe it, the whole hugging me thing, what a little actor he is.

Holy smokes Hunter and Ian look like 17 years old, that is insane. I loved everything in the Christmas package. Elder Fuentes enjoyed the chocolate a little too much, he ate a ton all at once and it gave him a stomach ache. I don’t know if it's the difference in the mac and windows or what but the little tiny mini disk doesn’t load in my mp3 or the computer, but the pin drive would load on the computer here and our mini TV thingy we have in the pension, but the songs wouldn’t play, there was something wrong with the files, but Elder Fuentes was able to do something and we were able to move all the songs you bought onto my mp3 from the pin drive, and Drew’s stuff works on the little TV. The voice memos didn’t work on the TV but I was able to listen to some of them here on the computer in the church. But the most important thing is that I got the songs that you bought me onto my mp3 and I love them, that is what I wanted most off all!! Gracias. The Burris Valley shirt is super sweet, and I love and have already worn all the ties that you sent.

I’m brushing my teeth 3 TIMES A DAY. THREE TIMES! and I usually floss once a day. I got my shot in the CCM, sorry forgot to tell you.

Christmas we just worked normal! We had lunch with a family here in the barrio (district).

On our way to the church to face time, Elder Fuentes got pooped on by a bird, HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA ! It was so funny, I was dying. Elder Fuentes always wears the same pair of pants and I though it was the only pair he had... turns out he has like 7 pairs but he just doesn’t wear them because he doesn’t like the way they fit, so for Christmas I got three of his pants fitted for him so now he has four that he will wear. What a turd. haha

I have recently come to realize that my Spanish has started to come more easy and that I can usually communicate pretty well with people! I also recently realized that sometimes I am just following Elder Fuentes around and just kinda doing whatever he does.  I realized that there were some things that we are doing that are very good, but we could be doing them better. So I kinda told myself, “Elder Moe you aren’t in your training anymore” and this past week I really tried to take the lead in some of the things that we did, with investigators, contacts, members, less actives, and los demos.  I want to have success here in Belgrano and thus far we haven’t had one baptism, so I really am gonna try on a higher level this next week and from here on out to work as much as we can with the members and less actives to be able to find those who are prepared.

Love you fam, love you mom! Thank you thank you for everything!

PS  I love the uke Becca

"White Shirts and Ties Running Down the Street/Elder Fuentes Stepped in Poo/Baptismal Date"

Dec 17, 2018

PA LEASE! Elder Fuentes is grosser than I am, trust me.
We have a big zone conference with like half the mission in the mission home this Thursday so I’ll most likely get my package there. And I’m assuming we will find out more details about all the Christmas FaceTime stuff there too. The soccer jersey wasn’t really that expensive, I didn’t buy it in Belgrano. Hahaha everything here in Belgrano is super expensive but if you leave this area things are usually a good price.

Yes, me and Elder Fuentes have a really good relationship and we are learning a lot from each other! The Lord has more work for me to do here in Belgrano!

I’m glad the service for Grandpa went well, I love the pictures, you guys look really good! I love Adam he is so awesome, tell him I say hello! That will be fun to be there in Dallas with him!

I KNOW!! I read that thing about the youth progression right before I started writing, that is CRAZY!!! Hunter and Ian are gonna be able to baptize in the temple here pretty soon!! That is crazy!

OOOOHHHHH MY GOOOSH!!! Norah talks!! OH my goodness that is so crazy. AWWW she is so so cute. Tell Liam I said happy birthday

Liam,
Hey man!! I miss you bro! Happy birthday! Holy smokes you are 11, that is crazy man! I hope everything is going good and that all the toads around the house have names. You are awesome dude! I love you!

This week was a good week! We did divisions with Nunez, me and Elder Harris. We tore it up and found like 5 people that were interested and gave us their information, but they all live in other areas so we had to pass the information to other areas. That happens all the time here; we send so many references to other areas because a ton of people work here but don’t live here. One of my favorite things about the mission is running! haha! It is so funny to me, when we are cutting it close on time to get back to the pension, we run! And when we are super late to a cita (appointment) or almuerzo (lunch), I just imagine what we look like, two dudes in white shirts and ties running down the street in the middle of the city with Books of Mormon in there hands, haha.

We were walking down the street after the ward Christmas dinner (we got a ton of leftover chicken) and Elder Fuentes stepped in a fresh poop and his foot slid like a yard and he did the splits and almost fell over, it was probably the most funny thing that ever happened.

We have an investigator named Eleena (name changed)! Right now she has a baptismal date for the 29th of Dec, please pray that she can obtain a testimony of the restored gospel!

I'll let you know all the details about face timing next Monday!

I downloaded the new 2019 youth theme music on mi (my) mp3! NEW MUSIC! I’m so excited!

"Hola familia Moe! esta semana fue muy buena y sentimos muchisimo el espiritu guiandonos a todos lados. Gracias!" -Elder Fuentes

Love you family, have a good Christmas break and have fun in Dallas!

Love, Elder Moe

"I Finished Up 12 Semanas This Week"

Dec 10, 2018

Tue. Dec 4, 2018 Journal entry:
Christmas time is coming! “It’s practically here!” –said in Grinch voice-  I just finished eating breakfast, we are listening to some Christmas music, and it’s Summer! Man, sometimes this all just seems so crazy still! I’m excited this Christmas to focus 100% on my Savior Jesus Christ and draw closer to Him!

Fri. Dec 7, 2018 Journal entry:
This phase of my mission has been pretty hard at times, really hard at times, but I’ve never been closer to my Savior Jesus Christ, never in my life. I LOVE personal study, companionship study as well.  As missionaries we try to set citas (appointments) with people to teach, if you are prepared spiritually and physically in the morning, and you come to personal study with a desire to learn, personal study is your cita with the Lord every day. He is willing to teach me! I love, love the Book of Mormon. Even though I’m reading in Spanish, I’m learning a ton and understand almost everything! I love Preach My Gospel as well. That book is 100% inspired my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

This morning we were 100% guided by the spirit. A lady we contacted in the street did the kiss on the cheek thing to Elder Fuentes and he didn’t say anything, but I was really trying to stay obedient and maintain the spirit so I rejected her! I think she was pretty upset hahaha  “no me vas a hacer el amor si me das un beso!” –crazy lady in street.  I’m not going to translate that into English haha, but afterward, the Lord put one of our investigators (who won’t share her phone info with us) in our path again!!! We were walking and BOOM! There she was and we were able to set another cita with her! Que bendiciones! (what blessings!)

Today P-Day:
This week was really good! I finished up 12 semañas (weeks) this week, and I honestly really enjoyed it. It is kinda crazy that my training has come to and end. I really have grown a ton in these first two transfers. I have grown so, so much closer to my Heavenly Father. I haven't had a baptism yet!, and sometimes it has been super frustrating because there are days where we don't have citas (appointments), so we contact and try to talk with everyone. I am trying to share this gospel that I love and sometimes it seems like no one cares at all. I have had to humble myself so much and learn to rely 100% on the Lord and on the Spirit.  I have learned a monton (mountain) about faith and have really tried to grow my own. I have learned so so much and come to appreciate so much more the Atonement and the power of it. I have never needed the Atonement in my life more than I need it now. I need it to change, change my thoughts to be more focused, change my desires to want to talk to people, change myself in general to be the missionary the Lord wants me to be.

My mission, at some points, has been very hard, but I have never in my life been closer to my Savior Jesus Christ. I have never in my life felt the Spirit as often as I do out here in the mission. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I am so grateful for this opportunity to serve him.

I had to do trametes (process of applying for Visas) this morning, which was fairly smooth compared to last time, so the whole day has been completely whack.  Afterward, we all (Me, Fuentes y Drummond, Harris) bought jerseys at this mall type place. I took some pics of my journal so yall have more to read, hopefully they have time to load, I took a bunch of videos this week too so that is a blessing.

The package isn’t here yet but Elder Harris said his parents sent him a package and it isn’t here tampoco entonces (either, so) I’m not too worried. I’ll get it at zone conference. We get transfer calls tonight so I’ll let you guys know what happened next week. Love you guys. More details next week!

"A Heads Up About Great-grandpa"

Elders Moe, Fuentes, Belnap and Simmons

Dec 3, 2018
The Lord gave me a little heads up about Great-Grandpa back in October when I was with Elder Morel. It was on a Sunday and we got to the church way early. We were sitting in the chapel alone. Elder Morel was playing the piano and I was just sitting there listening. For some reason my thoughts started drifting to Great-grandpa Harold; I thought about hugging him goodbye at the airport and I had an impression from the spirit tell me and assure me that I had said a proper goodbye. I almost started crying and I knew I was feeling the spirit. I think Heavenly Father wanted to let me know that He was about to take Grandpa home. He confirmed to me that I had said my goodbye and that everything would be ok. I am so thankful for this experience. I was prepared then and I know it is the will of God. The Lord was ready to take him back.

The work has been pretty rough here in Belgrano and sometimes is very frustrating, then this impression from the sprit about Greatgrandpa all happened and it was just crazy. But I remember Elder Morel telling me over and over again that the Lord is preparing me for something, I don’t know what it is but I know that this is part of the plan of the Lord, He needs me for something and all this craziness here at the begging of my mission is part of it. I cannot even explain how much my testimony of my Savior Jesus Christ has grown since I’ve been on my mission. It is incredible. I have learned and experienced so much in this time here of the power and the love that comes because of His atoning sacrifice for us. I love Him and I am going to try as absolutely hard as I can to be the best missionary I can be, for Him. Thank you for your love and continual prayers. I love you guys.

Yes! We get transfer calls a week from today and transfers are next Tuesday. I have to go into the offices next Monday to do more trametes so ill probably be able to pick up my package then.

Tuesday this week we did divisions with the Elders from Saavedra. Elder Silvaera, a brand new missionary from Brazil who is in his first transfer, came here to Belgrano with me for the day. I was praying so so hard for help, I know more Spanish and have more experience than he does! The Lord helped us out a TON! I was able to communicate really well with everyone that we talked to and hardly had any troubles with understanding and speaking! What a blessing! We had an appointment with an investigator but he didn’t show up at the church, but the Lord sent us someone off the street who wanted to talk for 30 minutes! And by the time we finished talking... our initial investigator came walking down the street 35 minutes late but we were still there because the woman from the street talked to us for a long time! We had a good lesson with him and set a baptismal date!!!!! WOOOOO!

Because President Trump came to town for the G20 Summit, we had to go work in Chacarita with the Zone leaders (Simmons & Belnap) for three days for security reasons. (As a side note, I don’t remember if I told you or not but Elder Fuentes is our district leader.)  It seemed like more people were acting weird when they saw us though, a few people rudely told us to go back to the US but nothing super crazy. It was fun though!!

Another great week in the mission field, thank you for all the love and prayers. LOVE YOU!

Trametes, Rocks & The Gift of Tongues

Nov 26, 2018
OH my gosh that looks so so fun! Those pictures are super cool and that looks crazy! Mom, I wont be sad if you take/send family pictures without my giant face in them hahahah. That picture of Brinton and Grandma is so funny. Sounds like it was an awesome trip!!!

This week was crazy!!!! I had trametes (processing Visa paperwork) on Wednesday with a lot of guys from the CCM!!!!! I saw Elder Tolman and Andrus and my old comp Elder Armstrong was there too! We were literally in some capital building all flipping day. We left Belgrano at 8 am and didn’t get back till 7:30 that night. But it was super fun because I was with the bros the entire time!! It was super fun to have time to catch up and hear how they have been doing and hear their Spanish! Elder Andrus and I did a little bit of contacting together in the train on the way there and it was so fun!! We also saw Elder Villa there who was in the CCM with me and went to the West mission! I actually can talk to him now! It was super cool to actually have a conversation with him and not just be teaching him random phrases in English that he didn’t understand (What’s up vanilla face!!!) So that was crazy and fun!

We did divisions in Chacarita with the ZLs (Zone Leaders) again and this time I was with Elder Simmonns! It was awesome, we went into a couple villas and taught a couple lessons with a member there.

You probably know a little bit about the two soccer teams Boca and River; when they have games at the River stadium we aren’t allowed to work in our area because the stadium is close and all the crazies are out drinking and doing crazy stuff. So we tried to go work with the Elders in Saavedra but we got lost on the way there and our phone was about to die, so we just took some pictures under and on a bridge then went back to Belgrano because the Elders there wouldn’t answer their phone haha. The game ended up getting postponed because a bunch of River fans got rocks and were throwing them at the Boca players and injured some of them ( I don’t like River, Boca is way better )

Elder Fuentes asked me to say a prayer in English this week, and I tried to do it and it was crazy, I tried to start praying and I couldn’t do it. My mind went completely blank. I talk in English every once in a while when I’m with gringos but I haven’t said a prayer in English in three months. I literally struggled so hard at the beginning; I kept saying words in Spanish! I ended up getting pretty emotional and felt the spirit testifying to me that the Gift of Tongues is real and I am receiving a ton of help with the language because all of the studying. Out of nowhere, my English clicked and I was just praying like normal again.

I was able to speak a lot this week; I am starting to be a lot more like myself in Spanish now. When I have the spirit with me I am able to explain things in more detail and understand and respond to questions people have, but when I don’t have the spirit I have to think and struggle a bit more and it doesn’t flow nearly as well. There is a clear difference between the two. Thank you for your prayers!

Love you family!

"Elder Gong!" & "Awesome Birthday"

Tolman, Moe, Andrus

Nov 19, 2018

Family!
We had a 12 hour zone conference on Tuesday, it was actually really fun! We did some district councils and had a zone meeting then did practices, then we all went out and contacted (in our area!)  for an hour and had interviews with Pres then had lunch, and then at the end of the day we had a huge meeting with all the ward leaders in the stake, and the stake presidency was there and the area authorities and we talked about how we are all going to work better together (wards and missionaries) to move forward the work of the Lord! I sent a few pics we took as our zone! Yes, Elder Simmons is one of the zone leaders, he is so awesome, I love that dude. He honestly looks a little bit like Brinton.

ELDER GONG! Yes, I got to see some of my old CCM friends and friends from my zone in Tiigre! It was SO FUN! I sent a picture of me and Elder Andrus and Tolman! And with me and Elder Christensen and Fuentes. Elder Christensen is huge, I love him he is so funny and a really good missionary! After the meeting, Elder Gong had us gather in districts and he came and personally talked to and shook everyone’s hand! It was such a tender moment, God has called 15 men, 15 out of the whole world, 15 men to lead His restored church that is on the earth today and I got the chance to meet and talk to one of them. I LOVE BEING A MEMBER OF THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER-DAY SAINTS!

Today we played basketball with some members of the ward, it was super fun! I uploaded a video from three weeks ago of the court in the back, so you guys can see it!  Oh my gosh that video of you guys singing is so flipping funny ahahahahah (jajajajajajaja)! I’m so glad that Brinton is still a dingleberry! Diga a Brittney: Sí! Estoy disfrutando AFULL!!!!!! Hahaha hablas en vos! Capas cuando vuelvo podré usar vos pero por ahora hablo todo en usted! Gracias por enviar el video, chao!!

I am proud of Becca for giving blood and being stronger than Brinton was and not passing out!
Have fun in Utah! That sounds so fun having everyone up there at the cabin! Ohh cold weather, I’m gonna have a full straight year of summer!

I had an awesome birthday, we had lunch with familia Lucas and then we also visited familia Alliuad from the CCM! They are so awesome, I love that family! They made me another cake!

Have a good week family! love you all!

"He Said the Dreams Stopped"/ "Blaring Spanish Rap Music"

Moe & Fuentes
Nov 12, 2018
ELDER GONG IS COMING ON FRIDAY!!!!!!! Hahahahaha I’m so excited! Two apostles in three months!!

This week we did divisions with the zone leaders! I went to Chacarita with Elder Belnap. We went into a villa! (its like a neighborhood of sorts) It was absolutely wild! It is a different world inside. All the houses are just four brick walls stacked on top of each other and usually there is only like three feet of space to walk through to go places. Parts of it are literally like a maze. But it was pretty tranquilo because we had a member with us who knew a ton of people inside and it was actually a pretty nice villa, it had a street in it and that is not common. But everything is different inside the villa, it was super cool and super super humbling. It was hard to focus sometimes because usually someone nearby is blaring some type of Spanish rap music. But it was a really good experience!

Villa in Chacarita
Saturday and Sunday it was raining like no other. It was actually pretty fun. I was wearing brown socks because I had just returned from divisions in Chacarita and I had put those on in the morning because I was wearing my brown shoes in the morning and I didn’t want to dirty another pair that day. Haha I was wearing my black boots with black pants and brown socks.

Thank you so much for the videos!! Hahaha I was laughing seeing everybody, that is so awesome! Thank you! Thank you for the package! Holy crap 4000 songs you gotta be kidding! Thank you Sis. J!! Awesome thank you so much!! I sure hope we have a mission Christmas party, I have heard nothing of this.

Yes! I’ve been going out on splits with Santiago, a friend of Javi’s from the CCM. He just got home from his mission at the same time Javi did, and is in our ward. He is from Bolivia, is super cool and talks really cool, I like his accent a lot and it’s easy to understand.
Elder Moe & Santiago
Mom: Do the members feed you everyday?
Elder Moe: Yes! Usually during the week we get what is called a vianda (lunch), basically we go and pick up food from the members houses and bring it back to the pension (apartment) and eat it. Weekends we usually eat in members houses though, but its always lunch. The day revolves around lunch and we do studies during the siesta after lunch.

Mom: Have you had to give a talk in sacrament meeting yet?
Elder Moe: I bore my testimony once, we thought we were gonna be giving talks so I stayed up late to prepare a talk and then he announced over the pulpit that the Elders would be "sharing their testimonies." Thank you Bishop!

Mom: Does anyone know about your birthday? Wondering if you will be fed?
Elder Moe: Trust me people will know, the lady in the ward who organizes our lunches figured out and I’m pretty sure she sent a message to the family that we have lunch with that day.

Mom: How are your investigators?
Elder Moe: Ever since Felipe has started meeting with us he has been having weird demonicish dreams, so Thursday I felt prompted to promise him that if he would read the Libro De Mormon (LDM=BOM) and pray every night before he went to bed that he would never have a bad dream again, and if he did have a dream it would be something good and uplifting. He came to church this Sunday and said the dreams stopped and he has been sleeping really well!! The power of God is real everybody!! It was an awesome experience.

Love you so much fam, thank you for your prayers. Heavenly Father hears your prayers and is answering them. Because of your prayers, and the help of Heavenly Father, I am speaking very well. I get complemented every day by someone when they find out how long I’ve been here. It is such a blessing, thank you for your prayers, Heavenly Father listens and he loves you guys and I love you too.

Tell Hunter and Ian that I love them and that the power of the Priesthood that they hold is real. It is more than just passing the sacrament, it is literally God´s superpower for his children and we are to use it to bless others and not ourselves. It’s the same power that parted the Red Sea, healed the sick, gave the blind sight, and stopped the tempting dreams satan was sending to Felipe. You guys have it, be worthy of it and learn about it and you will start to see how it influences you and you will see the hand of God working through you to help and bless people around you. I love you guys, you guys are awesome!

I’m loving the mission. I’m just trying to focus 100% of myself on the work so that the Lord can shape me into the missionary he needs me to be. Thank you for blessing me with a picture of my beautiful truck haha. And thank you for the emails, I am excited to be here and I have been enjoying the closeness of the Spirit. Love you!

"Call Me Elder Greenie Moe"

Elder Moe & Fuentes and Elders from the Rosario Mission
Nov 5, 2018
Holy cow those onesies are legit HAHAHAHAHA! It almost looks like dad has a butt! The Halloween costumes look so sweet, but I think the Micklesons outdid you guys! Brinton and Haley actually look really good hahaha!  I’m glad you guys are going to be able to spend time with Brinton and Haley and Grandma Dora for Thanksgiving! That will be so flipping fun! I hope all goes well with the elections, keep me informed that way I can hear it from you and not some arrogant Argentine who wants to argue about something. Thank you for the advice and counsel, there are a few things that you told me before I left about companions and such that I have reflected on multiple times. Thank you

My new comp is Elder Fuentes!! He is from Northern Argentina. He doesn't speak English!!!! So it is 100% Spanish from here on out, but I am excited and ready! The Lord has blessed me immensely and I have been able to learn very fast. The Lord is helping me; I know it is Him because on my own I struggle, but I can feel Him helping me and I can speak. The language is for sure coming. Being with Elder Morel was kinda like the CCM, I learned a lot but we basically spoke a ton of English, now I’m just 100% Spanish and I am doing it! I have been able to communicate very well with him. He is an awesome missionary. He has been out for 10 months so he still has excitement for the work! The miracles are already coming. He is pushing us to work harder and work better with the members. This is going to be a successful transfer. He likes to be obedient and work hard so I love him!!! Also he is a baller!! I have never met an Argentine that actually has some moves, but this chico can play!!

Something pretty wild happened this week that was definitely a first for me. We found Gloria and Felipe (names changed) who live in a truck (with a cover over the bed) on the street. Gloria was baptized in 2016 but is now inactive and living with Felipe (not married), but they invited us to come talk to them because they want to come unto Christ and get Felipe baptized!! I felt that we should offer to give them a Priesthood blessing to help them start their journey back to the Savior and I just assumed we could do it in the church on Sunday, but no! We gave them blessings in the street! Elder Fuentes said he has done it a few times. So this week I gave Felipe a blessing in the street and it was the first time I've ever given a blessing in Spanish! I was about to do it and then the thought occurred to me, "Elder Moe you have to do this blessing in Spanish." It was scary, but I did it!!! Never before have I done anything like that!!!

I extended a baptismal invitation to Lucas (name changed)! He accepted! And I forgot to set a date!... What an idiot! You can call me Elder Greenie Moe, we are going to visit him today so he can meet Elder Fuentes and extend a baptism date.

The pic with the other two Elders is another story; they are from the Rosario Mission. They had to come here because the Elder from Mexico lost his passport, and the embassy is in our area.  Money withdrawal was easy; no one gets robbed here. You don’t have to worry about me in this area! I got it taken care of, love ya!

Love you family!! Have a great week!

"Elder Morel Left This Morning / Big Black Trash Bins"

Moe, Morel, Drummond & Harris

Oct 29, 2018
We didn’t get a chance to teach Lucas this week, but he did say that he has been reading and is very curious about the Book of Mormon. Elder Morel left this morning so I’m chilling with Elder Harris and Drummond today; we have a lesson with him tonight so I’m gonna bring them, its gonna be wild. A woman showed up at church yesterday and she was very interested! What a miracle! I’m ready to hit the ground running this transfer; we are gonna have some baptisms!

This week was crazy trying to get Elder Morel ready to go home. We got some sweet haircuts on Monday after emailing; we talked to the lady a ton about the church and basically taught the first lesson, she was awesome! We got her info and passed it to the Elders in the area that she lives in.

It is kinda funny and flipping weird, but a lot of people just pee out in public. There are big black trash bins here and there around the city and sometimes people literally just unzip and start going on the trash bins, and not just homeless people. We have seen guys wearing jeans and blazers going right next to a giant park and street; we saw a woman bending over holding up her little two year old son’s pants so he could pee on it. It’s pretty crazy.

I did splits with Elder Cantos and Bravo this week while Elder Morel was doing algunas cosas and that was honestly pretty fun. When I went out with Elder Bravos we were in San Fernando (province, people are more in need) and it was so fun! We taught two lessons, got three referrals, set up three return appointments, and got one new investigator in literally an hour and fifteen minutes. It was so fun! Literally those are usually pretty similar to me and Elder Morels weekly numbers, but Elder Bravo and I did it in an hour and a half. I am gonna kick it into gear this transfer, I don’t care who my companion is, what area I’ll be in, or how bad my Spanish is, we are gonna do some serious work this transfer.

My Spanish is improving and it’s been really great! I love Spanish, it is just so hard to understand people sometimes. The thing about being here is that there are people from everywhere: Venezuela, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, calquier país. So there are so many different accents here and everyone talks different. It is coming though!

I took a video of Elder Morel leaving! He made the cake from the cake mix Joni sent and it was actually super flipping good.

I took a pic of a dope tree, and a pic of our zone. Our zone leaders weren’t in the pic though.

Love you fam!!!
